Here are our 7 tips for banishing dry skin this Winter.
- Use a Cleansing balm, they are much gentler on the face. A natural cleansing balm made from nourishing plant oils is less drying than a foaming face wash. Use a warm, damp cloth to wipe the balm and dirt away.
- Avoid hot water which breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture so although a nice hot bath is great in winter, warm water is less drying.
- Moisturise day and night with a plant oil moisturiser rather than water base. The oil will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture. Try our Face Oil Treatment for a night time boost.
- Exfoliate Face and Body to make sure that skin is clear of dead cells and ready to receive moisture. If you don't like exfoliating masks, you can use your face and body cloth to gently exfoliate. Follow immediately with moisture to truly see a smoother difference.
- Moisturising Face Masks rather than using harsh peels, clay-based masks, and alcohol-based toners or astringents, all of which can strip vital oil from your skin.
- Don't forget your hands where the skin hands is thinner than on most parts of the body and has fewer oil glands. It's harder to keep your hands moist, especially in cold, dry weather. Our Restoring Hand Moisturiser revives, repairs and restores making hands look instantly smoother.
- Drink more water as keeping hydrated is good for overall health. In winter, we tend to drink less water and instead turn to hot drinks like coffee and tea. Don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside out all year round.
